As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Hollard Ghana has organised the ‘Hollard Streetwise-Finance Business Challenge’ to assist young entrepreneurs with funding to grow and scale up their businesses.

The challenge saw seven entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas to the judges in attempt to win the cash prize.

According to the Managing Director of Hollard Insurance, Daniel Addo, the company is committed to ensuring that there’s a reduction in the rate of unemployed youth in Ghana.

“The business community has had reason to question the way the universities train our graduates. We’ve always made the point that the instructions are too theoretical. So graduates leave and they have no entrepreneurial skills and are expecting someone to employ them".

"We are excited to bridge this gap and correct this problem”, he said.

The insurance giant organised the Streetwise-Finance Business challenge to give young entrepreneurs the opportunity to acquire financial help to grow their businesses.

The contestants were judged based on the feasibility, scalability and sustainability of their businesses.

The competition encompassed entrepreneurs from the University of Ghana and the University of Cape Coast.

StepFarm emerged winners of the challenge and were awarded with ¢15,000 cash prize, while the first and second runner ups were awarded ¢10,000 and ¢5,000 respectively.

The participants were encouraged to strive hard to sustain their businesses.
