President of Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi believes Kwesi Appiah scored the highest of the three applicants as well as being the best placed of the 95 applicants for the Black Stars job.
Appiah, 56, makes a return to replace Israeli tactician Avram Grant after his departure in February after a not so good AFCON.
Many Ghanaians believe Kwesi Appiah Akwasi Appiah was given the job after the FA were unduly influenced to make the decision but the FA President believes the appointment was on merit.
“Kwesi Appiah was chosen because he scored the highest mark on the score sheet of the interviewees who took part in the selection process,” he told Joy Sports.
“He got the highest mark and so he got the highest average mark and that ranked him first among the three people who were interviewed.
“And I can confirm to you that Kwesi Appiah was chosen on merit not because he was a Ghanaian, out of the 95 people who applied and the 3 who were interviewed, we thought he was the best not because he was our country man.
The Ex captain joined Al Khartoum El Watani in December, 2014 after he was sacked as the head coach of the Black Stars following an abysmal world cup campaign in Brazil.
