The Communications Director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has called on Ghanaian voters to reject the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming election this December.
Ahiagbah argues that Mahama's competency remains questionable and unchanged, suggesting that he lacks the ability to effectively manage the affairs of the state.
Citing Mr Mahama's previous tenure, Mr Ahiagbah asserts that the former president brought significant hardship to the Ghanaian populace and has yet to present any innovative ideas to improve upon his past performance.
H.E. John Mahama was a one-term president because he was incompetent and brought untold hardship to Ghanaians. As a result of that incompetence, Ghanaians sent him home in 2016. In a social media post on Saturday, May 18, Ahiagbah reiterated his stance, emphasising that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia represents a superior alternative to the "rebranded" Mahama.
Encouraging Ghanaian citizens, Mr Ahiagbah urged them to turn out in large numbers to ensure the retention of the New Patriotic Party in order to continue the positive trajectory of governance.
"H.E. John Mahama was a one-term president because he was incompetent and brought untold hardship to Ghanaians. As a result of that incompetence, Ghanaians sent him home in 2016. So, let's not be tricked by Mahama's 2024 rebranding; he is the same old tried-and-failed Mahama. He was bad news for Ghana then, and he will be bad news for Ghana now."

"Bawumia is the future. Bawumia is capable and would catalyze Ghana's next chapter with bold solutions," he posted.
Dr Bawumia has also initiated a campaign urging Ghanaians to turn away from John Dramani Mahama's candidacy. Expressing apprehensions, he suggested that if elected, Mahama might struggle to adequately tackle the challenges confronting Ghanaians, given the limitation of serving for only one term.
Highlighting this constraint, Dr Bawumia underscored the potential hindrance it could pose to Mahama's ability to fulfill his promises and effectively address the needs of the populace.
In contrast, Dr Bawumia positioned himself as the optimal candidate to steer Ghana towards development and ensure accountability in governance.
“For me, because I am looking for an 8-year term, I have to work very hard in the first four years so that when I come back, you will say, oh yes, you did what you said you were going to do. We will give you another four years."
“But for my main opponent [John Dramani Mahama], when you give him four years, that is it. He doesn’t have to come back again. You won’t see him again, especially after he takes his honeymoon, you will not see him after four years."
“So you will get more accountability from me than from him.”
