Former Ghana international Derek Boateng has described ex-Black Stars head coach Milovan Rajevac as a “clueless” coach who couldn’t utilize his options.
Boateng was part of the Black Stars team during the Serbian’s first spell with the senior national team.
Rajevac guided Ghana to the final of the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations before taking them again to the quarterfinal of the World Cup in South Africa.
Despite his decent spell with the team, Boateng believes Rajevac and other foreign coaches never utilized the squad they had at their disposal.
“All of the foreign coaches we had while with the Black Stars, including Milovan Rajevac, were clueless. To be honest, we had a great team. During the 2010 World Cup, Quincy Owusu Abeyie, Sulley Muntari, and other top players were on the bench, which speaks volumes about the caliber of our team.
“We were playing in top clubs and leagues at the time, so Milovan Rajevac and other foreign coaches did nothing out of the ordinary.
“We trained as if we were playing a match, and every player worked hard to get into the starting lineup. Looking at the squad, there was serious competition in the team, and those foreign coaches did nothing in my opinion,” he told Asempa FM.
Boateng last played for the Black Stars at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
