The maiden edition of Hero Concert left no doubts in the minds of patrons about the birth of a new musical event that will stand the test of time.
The audience at the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill enjoyed nothing less of an exciting time and a great display of musical prowess by two of Ghana’s finest musicians.
Kuami Eugene teamed up with legendary Highlife artiste, Rex Omar, to deliver electrifying performances at the first edition of the concert on Friday.
Hero Concert is an initiative by Slip Entertainment and Lynx Entertainment designed to celebrate Highlife and Highlife musicians who have blazed the trail.
The event will see Kuami Eugene select a Highlife hero, each year, to celebrate for uplifting the genre.
This year’s concert had the young artiste performing songs by Rex Omar and other Highlife veterans.
The ‘Rock Star’ delivered songs including ‘Maba’ by Rex Omar, ‘Damaabi’ by Ofori Amponsah, ‘Wo Da Enda’ by Dasebre Gyamenah, ‘Sisi’ by Adane Best, ‘Theresa’ by Daddy Lumba, ‘Akwankwa’ by
Lee Dodou, ‘Osobrokyee’ by Papa Bobo and many other popular Highlife tunes.
He also performed his own songs such as ‘Ohemaa’, ‘No More’, ‘Walahi’, ‘Wish Me Well’, and ‘Aku Shika’.
In total, Kuami Eugene performed over 20 Highlife songs as well as some old gospel songs with Highlife rhythms.
Rex Omar also thrilled the audience to ‘Dada Dida’, ‘Abiba’, ‘Kotosa’, ‘Maba’ and some other hit songs he composed.
Patrons were amazed when Rex Omar suddenly joined Kuami Eugene on stage and performed ‘Angela’.
Fellow Lynx Entertainment signee, Kidi, later joined Kuami Eugene on stage to offer his support to his label mate.
