Partners for Rural Development, a Techiman-based NGO, has developed a herbal drug for the cure of guinea worm.
The NGO worked in collaboration with the Nkoranza District Community Water and Sanitation Programme with the objective of helping to prevent and eradicate guinea worm in the area.
Mr. Sarfo Acheampong, Nkoranza District Coordinator of the Water and Sanitation Programme told the Ghana News Agency that the medicine had been tried on some guinea worm victims and had proved successful.
Mr. Acheampong said the drug was developed by Mr Williams Sei, a herbalist from Sampa in the Jaman south district of the Brong Ahafo region, and advised the general public to carry the good news to victims of the disease.
