President Akufo-Addo has disclosed that the Ayawaso Central MP, Henry Quartey, was reluctant in accepting his appointment as Greater Accra Regional Minister.
According to the President, Henry Quartey was hoping to play a different role in his government.
Speaking on Accra-based Peace FM at the start of his tour in the Region on Thursday, President Akufo-Addo lauded Henry Quartey for his relentlessness in bringing development to the capital.
“He has done well...He didn’t like the appointment...He wanted another job...I insisted that he becomes the Greater Accra Regional Minister. He has proved to be a strong choice and preference,” Akufo-Addo said on Thursday.
Since becoming a Regional Minister, Henry Quartey has embarked on various activities as part of his “Let’s Make Accra Work” agenda.
This agenda has led to various decongestion exercises across the city.
He has also relocated onion traders at the Agbogbloshie market to Adjen Kotoku.
Henry Quartey has also announced plans to relocate traders at the Kokompe and Abossey Okai spare parts market.
These actions seem to have earned the Greater Accra Regional Minister a lot of praise.
Also hailing him, President Akufo-Addo said he is “happy that Ghanaians, especially in Accra, have seen the work Henry Quartey is doing.”
