John Antwi scored the winning goal in the 88th minute to hand Accra Hearts of Oak their first win in three matches.
This comes after the phobians lost all two matches after the sweet victory over Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports stadium.
A ten-man Hearts of Oak huffed and puffed in a game dominated by the visiting side Ashanti Gold, but John Antwi tapped in the winner when Ashgold’s shot stopper failed to deal with a corner, sending supporters at the Accra Sports stadium into a frenzy.
In the final minute of the game, Osei Pele missed a glorious opportunity to kill off the game. Ashgold looked very purposeful throughout the game and forced Sammy Adjei to make some really good saves to keep the home side in the game.
Paa Kwesi Fabin can finally heave a sigh of relief after bagging his first three points in three matches.
At the Sunyani Coronation Park, BA Stars held struggling Kumasi Asante Kotoko to a goalless draw.
Kumasi Asante gained a numerical advantage during the early minutes of the second half when Larbi Koomson was sent off for angrily pushing a Kotoko player.
The game could best be described as a dreary game of soccer with no real exciting moments.
In other games defending champions, Aduana Stars beat visiting Mighty Jets when Nurudeen Mohammed scored in the 78 minute to hand Coach Herbert Addo’s side all the three points.
Berekum Chelsea beat Wa All Stars at home by two goals to one to maintain top spot on the league table.
Real Tamale United lost at home to Berekum Arsenal by a lone goal. Kwabena Poku scored the only goal in the game to deepen the woes of the pride of the north.
Kessben FC was also held to a goalless draw at home by Ebusua Dwarfs at the Essipong stadium. New Edubiase and Liberty professional played out a barren game.
On Saturday, King Faisal continued with their impressive form when Micky Ofosu scored the game’s only goal to nail Hearts of Lions.
