A tall list of important personalities which include former goalkeeper of Hearts of Oak, Sammy Adjei and Ghana FA ExCo member, Randy Abbey, were denied entry for the big clash between Hearts of Oak and Accra Great Olympics.
The two clubs met in an encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium with very significant sub-plots on the line for both sides, and as a result, the fixture drew in a lot of enthusiastic spectators and club faithful alike, who were all eager to see events unfold before their very eyes.
Besides the names indicated earlier, another ex-player of Hearts of Oak, Ablade Kuma, was also left stranded behind the gates to the stadium as stadium security held them and other fans and spectators hostage.
These dignitaries were left stranded outside because the security personnel were overwhelmed twice in an attempt to open the gates and were left with no option than keep the gates shut.
For over 45 minutes, top dignitaries including Citi FM boss, Sam Mensah and Ghalca boss Cudjoe Fianoo continued to struggle to get inside the stadium.
Quite a number of them prevailed in the end but likes of former Hearts Striker Gilbert Fiamenyo, Sammy Adjei, Randy Abbey and some top officials left the premises.
Management of ticket sales and match organisation on the night was poorly managed and surely an area the Ghana FA Premier League management committee must get concerned about.
The sight of seeing overenthusiastic supporters scrambling for tickets and overpowering security to get inside does not sit well with the 'bring back the love' agenda by FA.
The game between the two ended in a stalemate, with Hearts of Oak’s Emmanuel Nettey breaking the deadlock with a shot from over 25-yards out.
71 minutes into the game however, Maxwell Quaye grabbed the goal, which turned out to be the last of the game.
The result sees Hearts of Oak go back on top of the table, ahead of arch-rivals Kotoko, on goal difference.
