Accra Hearts of Oak has defended “revered” Board Member, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, after former player Charles Taylor attacked him in a scathing interview.
The Hearts of Oak legend ripped into Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe, claiming he is capable of collapsing the club with his archaic ideas.
Taylor was responding to comments made by Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe in relation to former players seeking to relaunch their careers at Hearts of Oak, following failed stints abroad.
Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe, in an interview last week, revealed that the Club has received several offers from some of its former players to be allowed to return to it.
However, he noted that the leadership of the Club will not open its arms wide to welcome every player but will rather evaluate their impact before giving them a second chance.
But that didn't go down too well with Charles Taylor who attacked his integrity. Taylor received massive support from former teammate, Dan Quaye.
In response, Hearts of Oak said in a statement that it expected the players to have known better and appealed to all who have the club at heart, to report their grievances through the appropriate channel.
The club further offered clarification to the comments made by the Board Member.
"The comments made by Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe should be put in context for the record and the avoidance of doubt the statement is the board's well-considered decision not to welcome back to the club players who left under circumstances similar to the one under which he, Charles Taylor did.
''Hearts is a serious and ambitious club, and we shall not turn it into a platform for career relaunch by players who had deliberately run down their contracts.''
Below is the full statement:
Charles Taylor won African Champions League and Super Cup plus three Ghana Premier League titles with the Phobians, before sealing a then-record move to bitter rivals Asante Kotoko in 2003.
Dan Quaye also won African Champions League and five Ghana Premier League titles at Hearts of Oak.
