Board Chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak Mr. Commodore Mensah believes sponsorship money allocated to the premier clubs should be shared according to their positions on the league log.
According to him, it will be in the right direction to implement this to motivate all the clubs to compete keenly to finish up well to earn greater part of the sponsorship money.
He told Asempa Sports on Thursday that, this practice will help elevate the status of the local league to a standard where it can be compared to some European leagues.
Clubs that played in the 2009/2010 Premier League season received 18,000 dollars.
The ones involved in the 2010/2011 season bagged $32,000 while clubs that will play in the 2011/2012 campaign will receive $40,000; his includes promoted and relegated clubs.
Title sponsors of the league, Globacom, have had some challenges in honouring their part of the agreement signed three years ago due to ‘operational difficulties’ but have assured they are very committed to seeing the deal through.
He added that, the sharing of sponsorship money in the league does not contribute any aggressiveness in the clubs to put up their best since all get the same amount of money.
