League leaders Accra Hearts of have reportedly sacked head coach Kosta Papic just a day after a shock 0-1 defeat to king Faisal.
Board member of the club Fawad Zouk told Joy News the Serbian coach left his job by mutual consent with management.
Hearts surrendered a 13 point lead at the close of the first round of the ongoing Glo premier league, but are 5 points adrift second place Hearts of Lions with just seven matches to go.
Zouk believes the Serbians departure would not affect the title aspirations of the club.
The King Faisal defeat sums up a rather patchy performance from the Phobians with no points, no goal, to show after three matches, but a painful defeat to rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko to remember.
Hearts fans allegedly held Kosta Papic hostage after the defeat to King Faisal and demanded the termination of his contract.
Papic was hired last year by ousted Vincent Odotei Sowah who masterminded King Faisal’s defeat over the Phobians yesterday.
Assistant coach and former Black Stars defender Samuel Johnson is expected to take over until a substantive coach is appointed.
He has his job clear cut, to win Hearts’ 20th league title. But that won’t come easy after Hearts of Lions and King Faisal who are both title contenders have sworn to dethrone the league leaders.
