The Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu says the DCE for Gushiegu must proceed on leave.
He said Mr Abukari Mahama who is the Chairman of the District Security Council cannot remain in office while investigations into the violence there go on.
Mr. Mahama has been accused of complicity in the incident which saw some houses burnt and people killed.
Even though he has denied the allegations, Mr. Iddrisu says justice will not be done if he remains in office.
The Tamale South MP also appealed to the people to avoid acts of violence.
He exhorted them to see eachother as one people.
Joy News’ Sampson Lardi Ayenini reported from Tamale that some victims of the violence had pointed out that the DCE in the presence of the Interior Minster, Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor.
They claimed to have seen the DCE dousing some houses with petrol before they were burnt.
According to Lardi Ayenini Mr. Mahama was supposed to have been interrogated but the police were yet to do that.
Still on the Gushiegu crisis, a Political Scientist, Mr. Kwesi Amakye has called for the dismissal of Dr. Addo Kufuor.
According to him, the loss of lives and property could have been avoided if the minister had acted swiftly.
Mr. Amakye claimed that there were clear signs that such an unfortunate incident could happen and the minister ignored the signs.
Meanwhile the minister says anybody found culpable in the crisis will be dealt with according to the laws of the land.
He made the remarks after paying a visit to the area to assess the extent of damage.
