The Ghana Football Association has lauded Asamoah Gyan for his nomination for the 2010 Fifa Ballon d’Or.
FIFA on Tuesday named Gyan in their 23-man shortlist for the 2010 World Player of the Year.
The FA is hopeful that Gyan can develop and push for more laurels in his career.
"Your nomination did not come to us as a surprise at all, especially after a very successful FIFA World Cup campaign in South Africa this year.
"It is our belief and hope that this would urge you on to win more laurels in your career as a footballer, bearing in mind that out of the many talented footballers across the globe, you are part of the 23 nominees and also part of the three (3) footballers chosen from the English Premiership in England by FIFA," a statement to the player said.
Gyan's performances during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa where he scored three goals to aid the Black Stars' campaign to the quarter finals contributed to his nomination.
It also came on the back of a fine season when he scored 13 goals for Stade Rennes in France and three goals for Ghana at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations.
