Welfare Secretary of Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) has cautioned traders in the country to desist from trips to China.
Benjamin Yeboah explained that such a move will be perilous as they will stand a chance of contracting the deadly COVID-19.
“Please don’t go to China because we feel that whatever profits you will make will not be equal to your life”, he pleaded on the AM Show on Joy News.
According to him, members who have defied the initial ban and travelled to China will have to go through self-quarantine in Ghana upon their arrival.
“Are the factories working? Why are you risking your life so much for profits?” the Secretary queried.
Benjamin explained that a lot of these factories were locked down following the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus.
He advised that traders lean toward buying their goods from online shops rather than exposing themselves to possible exposure to the deadly virus by travelling outside the country.
However, he lamented that the disease is not limited to China alone as other trading countries were equally affected yet they are keeping hopes alive to see improvement in the situation.
Speaking further, he noted that when production of goods resumes after the current health threats, the necessary communications will be made.
He called on all and sundry to comply with the guidelines issued by various health organisations to be safe from infection.
