The Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) has selected 12 players for the Africa Juniors and Cadets Championship fixed for April 3-13 in Alexandria, Egypt.
The players were selected after an intensive three-day justify-your-inclusion exercise at the DG Hathiramani Sports Hall of the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra last week.
The squad is made up of four players - two each for the male and female divisions in the cadet category, with eight players - four each for the male and female divisions for the junior championship.
Dorothy Obuobi and Gloria Asafo Adjei makes up the female cadet team with Samuel Akayade and Emmanuel Asante forming the male cadet team.
Bernice Borquaye leads the female junior team with Akosua Ketu, Cythia Kwabi and Comfort Adjoa Ampah completing the squad.
In the male junior team, Philip Mensah, leads the team with Derek Abrefa, Lartey Felix and Baba Jebrila making up the squad of four.
Mr. Kwame Ampofi Jnr General Secretary of the GTTA told the GNA Sports that the team would be under the technical tutelage of coach Anthony Owusu-Ansah with Joseph Owusu-Addo as his assistant at the championship.
Other members of the delegation would include Emmanuel Yarboi an umpire, an official from the National Sports Council (NSC) and two representatives from the GTTA.
He said the team which is currently training at the D.G Hathiramani Sports Hall would depart Accra for Egypt on April 3.
Mr Ampofi Jnr called on individuals and organizations to support the team to ensure successful participation in the competition.
