An advocate group is clamoring for the Energy Minister, John Peter Amewu, to contest the Hohoe Constituency Parliamentary seat in the 2020 general elections.
The Agenda for Development group believes, Mr Amewu’s commitment to the physical and human resource development of the constituency, positions him as the best individual to represent the constituency in Parliament.
Addressing a press conference in Hohoe on Wednesday, the group’s Public Relations Officer, George Dogbe, indicated Energy Minister has a proven track record of a workaholic, development-oriented, not self-seeking and has exhibited qualities of an exemplary leader.
He outlined that Mr Amewu was instrumental in the construction of a stadium in Hohoe, provision of street lights in all communities in the constituency, donation of a brand new Mitsubishi Pick-up to the Hohoe Municipal Education Directorate and 11 motorbikes to circuit supervisors among other benevolence gestures.
“It is against this background that market women, barbers, teachers, carpenters, taxi drivers, Okada riders, farmers, nurses, etc are all here to add their voices to the call for Hon John Peter Amewu to contest the Hohoe seat,” he stressed.
He further stated that the Agenda for Development group which he claimed has membership from across the political divide, mobilised resources internally to purchase the NPP Parliamentary nomination forms for Mr Amewu to contest the primaries.
“... we are calling on him [John Peter Amewu] in all humility to make himself available immediately,” Mr Dogbe pleaded.
