A ground breaking ceremony to construct a multi-purpose dining and conference facility plus a kitchen at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram would be done by the Ghana Football Association on Thursday.
Sports Minister Hon. Rashid Pelpuo will join the FA and Sampon Kablan, the Fifa development officer for West Africa to perform the sod cutting for the Goal III Project at 10.00 am.
Ghana would be sourcing from the Fifa Goal III project $400,000 with the FA backing it up with $25,000 towards the construction.
The multi-purpose dining and conference facility plus kitchen would be developed on a 784sqm area to accommodate more than 200 people while the old kitchen, presently housed in the main structure – funded from the Goal I – would be turned into a clinic.
Civicom Ghana Ltd, a local company will be constructing the facility with Pro-Ark Limited acting as Project Consultants.
Through large Fifa financial support over the years, Ghana has been developing its technical centre in Prampram on a 100 acre land. The FA hopes to complete the masterplan to ease the huge financial commitments expended on the use of other facilities for national assignments.
The first phase of the technical centre at Prampram was built through Goal I Project whiles the money for Goal II Project was invested in the House of Football - the headquarters of the Ghana Football Association in Accra - and the Tema artificial pitch.
