Despite being reassigned as the assistant manager of Great Olympics, Godwin Attram has declared he will continue to act as head coach of the former Ghana Premier League champions.
The club formally appointed Swedish trainer Tom Strand as replacement for player-coach Attram who has supervised the team’s disastrous campaign so far in the Ghanaian topfligh.
Despite this poor showing, the fans have kicked against the decision to hire the former Medeama trainer as they believe their 'darling boy' Attram can turn the club's fortunes around with time.
The fans have thrown their weight behind Attram because they are convinced he single-handedly qualified Olympics to the top-flight playing the role of player-coach and deserves to stay on even if things are not going as planned.

And that has given Attram the impetus to decline the opportunity to work with Tom Strand, who has rich experience having guided Medeama to MTN FA cup triumph, a situation which has left the Wonder club in turmoil ahead of their clash with Liberty Professionals on Sunday in Dansoman.
On Thursday, there was huge drama as two sets of players trained with two different coaches at two different locations.
Newly appointed Strand had 13 players to train with at the St. Thomas Aquinas school park in Cantonments while 14, all promoted from the Godwin Attram’s Divise soccer academy, attended training session organised by the former Black Stars midfielder at the Fire service park.
And after training, Attram slammed the decision of management to sideline him at critical time.

“I stand for Great Olympics and I thanked the fans for their support, against Aduana Stars the players played very well we were just unlucky and you can’t blame a coach for that,” Attram told reporters at the club’s training ground.
“There is nothing any coach can do to solve Olympics situation right now, just that we need one or two players to augment the team, the defense is okay, the midfield perfect.”
“This people are trying to sabotage me because i have a problem with them, i have a problem with them because I’m trying to be honest and sincere to Olympics which they are not and they are trying to put me out and bring another coach in but believe me it will not work.”
“I’m a son of Olympics, i decided to resign but because of the supporters and the future of Great Olympics i will not, i will stand and fight. I will not work under Tom Strand as an assistant coach. Two years ago he was coaching Medeama i (Great Olympics) beat him 2-0 when Yaw Acheampong was the head I was the assistant coach. So, I can’t be an assistant for Tom Strand.”
The Wonder club are 10th on the log after 10 matches but with a game in hand.
