A member of Black Stars technical team, Gerard Nus, has revealed that Ghana coach Avram Grant is monitoring Atletico Madrid player Thomas for a possible call-up into the Black Stars.
Ghana-born Thomas, full name Thomas Teye Partey, has come through the ranks at Atleti but has made just five La Liga appearances so far this season.
However, the 22-year-old has recently been attracting attention in the Spanish media after scoring Atletico’s winner in a 1-0 victory over Levante this weekend.
Nus told the BBC World Service: “He did well and it is going to be Avram Grant’s decision when he wants to take him (Partey). We talk about him (Partey) and many others. It is important that all of them know that and they do their job.”
“We watch him and we know how good he is. The problem with the national team is that there are so many talents and it is hard to choose.
“He has adapted to the different teams he has been and this is important especially when you are from overseas and you come from Africa and have to adapt to so many this.
“In terms of football in those demanding leagues you have to be good technically and tactically and especially in Spain you have to be switched on in those aspects and be smart.”
Teye Partey is yet to play for Ghana at any level.
Following an earlier loan spell at Real Mallorca in 2013-14, Thomas spent last season on another loan deal at Almeria, scoring four times in 31 matches.
