Black Stars coach Avram Grant says he needs breathing space to concentrate on achieving his targets while at the helm.

The  Isreali trainer has come under attack after his agent, in an interview with the BBC, described the Ghanaian top flight as low in quality. This was in response to explain Grant's overstaying his agreed holiday period.

However, Grant, who is fine tuning his team for a crucial 2017 Afcon qualifier against Rwanda is worried about premature conclusions about his work so far.

"Look, I'm not even nine months here, and they are expect that the Black Stars will be the top of the world, the league will be the best league in the world, and the coaches will be the best.

"I cannot do everything in such a little time," the 60-year old said.

Grant took the Black Stars job last December and has recently come under a lot of flak for his continued absence from the country to monitor local talents especially during the period when the new season had not started.

His main reasons have been that he's used that time out to monitor players in Europe. But that reason has been criticised because many feel he can do that from within the country especially with so much technology at his disposal.

"So games of the Black Stars is my priority but I think for the future of Ghana football, good coaches will bring good players. So I will try to do my best for the coaches."

"After a long discussion, the [League Managers Association] of coaches in England have agreed to help us, and they have sent us a programme ,and a series of courses for coaches here. I have sent it to the Ghana FA and we will be discussing soon."

The Black Stars are set to play against Congo in a stadium-opening friendly on September 1 before engaging Rwanda in the 2017 Afcon qualifiers four days later.

But Grant must think of replacements after two players named in the 24-man squad withdrew due to injuries. Godfred Donsah, whose call up could have offered him a chance to debut, has a shoulder dislocated while on club duty with Bologna on Saturday in the Serie A.

He will require ten days to be fit.

Udinese midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu picked up a knock in training and was absent this weekend in the Serie A.
