Ashanti Gold were held to a 1-1 drawn game by Aduana Stars at the Len Clay Sports Stadium on match day five of the 2016 Ghana Premier League on Saturday.
The Miners playing at home enjoyed plenty of possession but they failed to get behind the Dormaa based club defense as they were resolute at the back.
The intense pressure mounted by the defending league champions positively paid off in the 44 minute when the home side were awarded a penalty which was neatly converted by Osei Baffuor.
The goal then triggered the away side to come out from their shell and they kept on probing for the equalizer.
However, late in the game they hit the home side with a sucker punch as Bright Adjei’s overhead kick found the far corner with the game ending 1-1.
The result means that Ashanti Gold have recorded their fourth consecutive draw after winning their opening game while Aduana Stars have picked four points in five league games.
