Another 15 goals from match day three and the Ghana Premier League has proven to be as exciting as any international football league. The stadiums are full, the displays are beautiful and the goals are stellar. With the bar set that high at the beginning of the league, it is imperative that this trend is maintained and improved. The weekend’s main actions are in Accra and Berekum.
The weekend began with league leaders Wa All Stars drawing away to Dreams FC. This could leave Hearts of Oak top of the league should they beat Bechem United
Hearts of Oak v Bechem United
Unbeaten Hearts of Oak are back home to prove why they should be feared by all opponents. The ever confident Kenichi Yatsuhasi will be hoping to steer his side to a victory which could leave Hearts at the top of the table at the end of match day four. They currently lie in second place behind All Stars on goal difference. Their opponents, Bechem United who have six points will also want to maintain last weekend’s momentum which resulted in a 1-0 victory over New Edubiase.
Berekum Chelsea v Asante Kotoko
Both teams come into this game after draws from their last games. The season has been sour especially for Kotoko who are still in search of their first win of the season despite signing many highly rated players during the off-season. The pressure appears to be getting to coach David Duncan whose position has been questioned many times. Chelsea are also eager to find their footing this season.
Hasaacas v AshantiGold
After the humiliating defeat to Wafa last weekend, Hasaacas return to Sekondi to host defending champions Ashanti Gold. There are expected to be changes in the Hasaacas line up that let five goals past them in search for an impressive performance to appease disappointed fans. The champions are also yet to stomp their authority on the season following a string of draws.
New Edubiase v Inter Allies
It appears Edubiase did not do their homework after narrowly escaping relegation last season. They lost to Bechem United a week ago to start what may become a trend towards eventual relegation. Their home game this weekend against a formidable side such as Inter Allies presents an opportunity to reverse this downward spiral.
Aduana Stars v Wafa
Aduana Stars lost again last weekend to continue a very disappointing start to the league for last term’s third place side. Aduana, who currently lie last on the league table will host Wafa in Dormaa. The Stars defence had better watch out for Wafa’s offence in this game they produced after an emphatic 5-0 crashing of Hasaacas on match three.
Liberty Professional v Techiman City
Techiman City seem to have settled well into the season with two wins out of three games. Liberty were satisfied after they played out a goalless draw with league leaders Wa All Stars last weekend. Liberty’s only win this season was in a home game against Inter Allies. The Carl Reindorf Park should be an exciting place to spend the weekend.
