Ghana Premier League champions Samartex were held to a draw in their outstanding matchday two fixture on Wednesday, October 2.
The Timber Giants played out a 1-1 draw with Bibiani GoldStars at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.
Michael Ephson and Isaac Afful saw their earlier opportunities go off-target as Samrtex began the game on a strong note.
Emmanuel Mamah stepped up to score from the penalty spot in the 28th minute of the game after Ephson had been fouled in the box, giving the home side a 1-0 lead.
After the break, the visitors made an explosive return, attacking immediately away with Ronald Frimpong's cross, which was meant at Attah Kumi in the box but cleared away by James Sewornu once more.
GoldStars were on top, launching all of their attacks in search of the equaliser, but Samrtex were well-organised and resolute in defence.
The visiting team finally tied the score in the 75th minute, thanks to defender Kelvin Oppong, who saved his club from their first defeat of the season.
The match ended 1-1 after 90 at the Nsenkyire Arena.
Samartex will travel to Nalerigu to face Karela United while GoldStars will also host Bechem United at Dun's Park in the upcoming round of games this weekend.
