Plans are far advanced to minimize the impact of fuel price increase on the poor and less privileged Ghanaian.
In this regard, about 300 Metro Mass buses will be bought this year by government to augment the existing fleet and ensure moderate fares are charged the ordinary Ghanaian.
Mr Bayon Tango, Minister of State at the Transportation Ministry, said this when he answered questions in Parliament on Wednesday.
He said a joint technical committee has also been set up to review the fuel price increases and formulate modalities to peg realistic transport charges any time fuel prices are increased to prevent transport owners from taking undue advantage of commuters.
The committee will comprise representatives of transport owners, the Ministry of Transportation, and other interested institutions and organizations.
