Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul is assuring that government will do everything possible to ensure Ghana maintains peace during and after the 2020 polls.
Speaking at the launch of the United Nations@75 event at the Accra International Conference Center, he stated that government is making efforts to engage with chiefs, opinion leaders other stakeholders to win the people's hearts.
This, he explained, will help ensure that the country’s peace is secured amid the elections.
“We are making efforts to ensure that we remain one nation...we have been engaging everybody to make sure that we win the heart and minds of the people,” Mr Nitiwul stated.
His comments come after many people raised concerns about the security in the country after an increase in murders, crimes and the Volta secessionist riots that took place in September.
The riots left two people dead and several properties destroyed.
The Defence Minister assured that government is in control when it comes to activities of the secessionists in the Region.
Mr Nitiwul added that government has equipped security agencies with needed resources to keep peace in the Region and ensure that the secessionists do not get any piece of Ghana.
