Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has once again reiterated that the persistent decline in inflation underscores the prudent manner in which the economy is being managed.
Inflation for the month of September declined again for the 15th straight month to 9.38 percent.
It is the lowest in several years. The Finance Minister told Joy Business government’s end-of-year target of 9.2 percent is now well within sight along with real benefits businesses and individuals.
He said the trend means people are getting more money in their pocket. “It means our purchasing power has been growing up.”
He highlighted some policies he said had helped government to achieve the stability.
“A year ago, government was borrowing at an interest rate of 25 per cent, but as we are speaking now, it is around 12.05 per cent,” he said.
