President Akufo-Addo says government remains committed to investing in the training of the country's youth.

According to him, helping to develop the needed soft skills for the labour market will in the long run have a positive impact on the economy.

He noted that countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Korea have heavily invested in the development of human capital and reaped its benefits.

Speaking at a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a ¢5million Ghana Award House project, the President indicated that upon completion, the two-storey administrative block will house many youths to help shape their skills.

"I place great hope in the capacity of Ghanaian youth to shape our future and make Ghana truly the Black star of Africa. Government since 2017 continues to invest heavily in the development and education of our young people," he said.

The President also disclosed that the operational cost of the scheme would be borne by the Office of the President under the direct supervision of the Chief of Staff, Frema Opare.

He said the project should be completed in the next 36 weeks and vehicles are to be allocated to the Secretariat for use.

He, therefore, called on individuals, corporate bodies in the construction industry to join hands and bring this project to fruition, explaining that they can donate bags of cement, blocks and other building materials in support of this project.

Meanwhile, Board Chairman of the Head of State Award Scheme, Henry B. Sintim-Aboagye noted that the project is long overdue but is grateful government is dedicated to its completion.

"I am very happy that today's sod-cutting ceremony has made the award dream one step closer. Today's sod-cutting is only a first step to the realisation of the Ghana Award house and we have to work even harder to complete the award house dream," he said.
