Renowned gospel musician Esther Smith has emphasised the spiritual nature of gospel music, cautioning that it should not be taken lightly.
Speaking in an interview on Adom TV ahead of her upcoming concert at the Perez Dome this Friday, Smith shared her experiences with spiritual attacks, highlighting the need for gospel singers to be spiritually prepared.
"I always say that gospel ministration is a spiritual exercise, not something to be taken lightly.
"When I minister through my song, 'Have faith in God and He will change your situation,' if I am not spiritually strong, the negative spirit affecting someone’s life as they listen to my song can attack me," she said on Thursday.
Madam Smith also noted that spiritual attacks are a frequent challenge for gospel artists, warning those who enter the field seeking fame and popularity that they could be putting themselves in serious danger.
"Gospel singers need to take their spiritual lives seriously because this work is challenging," she advised.
She recounted a recent experience during the organisation of her music concert, which saw her team facing various spiritual challenges.
"Even during the music concert we are organising, we've faced several challenges. For instance, before we arrived at the Kumasi concert venue, the front tires of our car burst on the day of the event.
"After the show, although many cars were parked at the location, we found a black fowl with wet feathers on our car."
Despite these challenges, Madam Smith expressed her faith in divine protection and her belief that God helps her overcome all obstacles.
"Gospel ministration is not easy, but with God’s protection, we always overcome these obstacles," she noted.
Esther Smith's is currently geared up to hold a concert at the Perez Dome on Friday at 5 pm.
This anticipated event will bring other gospel musicians who through the powerful ministration would uplift souls.
