About 150 amateur golfers would parade at the Tema Country Golf Course to vie for this year’s Ghana Open Golf Championship trophy on Friday.
Mr John Wattenburg, Secretary-General of the Ghana Golf Association who announced this at Tema on Monday, said the three-day 54-Hole event, which is open to amateur golfers throughout the country, would be sponsored by Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited.
He said the competition, which would be played according to the rules of the World’s Golf governing body, has been divided into two categories.
Mr Wattenburg said category One had been reserved for holders of Handicap 12 and below while category Two would be for Handicap 13 to 19 holders.
Among the golfers expected to participate in the competition are Mike Ezan, Michael Ben-George, Dan Dennis, Matthias Dorfe and Charles Tabi, all of the Achimota Golf Club.
Professor George Ntsiful, President of the Ghana Golf Association is expected to perform the opening ceremony.
