All is set for this year’s Ghana Open Golf championship scheduled for the Celebrity Golf Course at Sakumono, near Tema from Saturday, March 22 to Monday, March 24.
Mr John Wattenburg, Secretary of the Ghana Golf Association told GNA Sports at Tema on Friday, that the three-day 54-Hole Scratch event, which is open to golfers throughout the country, is to be sponsored by Stanbic Bank.
He said more than 200 golfers have so far registered for the competition which would be played under the rules of the Ghana Golf Association.
Mr Wattenburg said the Association has put in place adequate preparations to ensure that the Golf course was in good shape to ensure a worthy champion emerges.
He said among the array of golfers to be seen in action are Mike Ben-George, Mike Ezan, Oswald Amuzu, Joe Ohemeng, Dan Dennis, Charles Tabi and Bob Evans.
The Ladies’ section would also witness stiff opposition from veteran Mona Captan, Florence Etwi-Barimah, Clara Price and Victoria Adjei.
Mr Osei Bonsu Amoah, Deputy Minister for Education, Science and Sports would be the Special Guest of Honour.
