The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) has inaugurated a 30-member council to facilitate proposals and policy actions for business growth and resilience.
President of the Chamber, Clement Osei-Amoako, highlighted the urgency of the council citing the impact of Covid-19 on businesses as well as the prospects of the Continental Free Trade Agreement.
“The unpleasant memory of the global pandemic on the business community has necessitated the need for businesses to rethink and reshape their way of doing things in order to remain relevant and competitive”.
“As a Chamber, we are also excited that the journey to opening up new market access opportunities to drive the needed economic growth and transformation of the African continent has begun, and the overwhelming interest and support by the private sector,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Technical Advisor to the Minister for Trade and Industry, K. Baafi, who spoke on behalf of the Minister, Alan Kyerematen – explained that despite a slow business recovery amid the global pandemic, government has developed a national AfCFTA Policy Framework for boosting trade and investment.
