Food delivery giant Glovo has announced its decision to cease operations in Ghana effective May 10, 2024.
Despite investing significantly over the past two years to expand its services in the country, the company has faced profitability challenges within the Ghanaian market.
The news was communicated to Glovo's network of restaurant partners via email. In the message, Glovo cited the difficulty in achieving profitability as the primary reason for its decision to exit the Ghanaian market.

Glovo revealed that it plans to redirect its focus towards strengthening its presence in other African markets.
Specifically, it aims to consolidate its operations in countries like Morocco, Uganda, Kenya, Côte d’Ivoire, and Nigeria, where it sees more promising prospects for growth.
This decision comes as Glovo reassesses its investment priorities and strategic direction, opting to reallocate resources to regions where it can achieve better results.
Despite the closure of its operations in Ghana, Glovo expressed gratitude to its partners and customers for their support throughout its time in the country.
“We are reaching you to communicate that Glovo has decided to close our Ghana operations by May 10th at 10:00 pm.
"The decision to end our operations in the country is based on a reassessment of our investment priorities as we focus our resources on the other 23 countries where Glovo operates.”
“As your service provider company will also inform you, the app and the slots will remain active until May 10th, 10:00 pm… after that, the app will close and won’t be able to book any slots.”
