Kumasi Asante Kotoko raced into a two-goal first-half lead against Liberty Professionals at the Ohene Djan Stadium, however, a resilient Liberty almost succeeded in dispatching Kotoko empty handed, cancelling out the deficit and going ahead 3:2 until the final minute when Kojo Poku fetched the vital equalizer.
Kojo Poku gave Kotoko the leader after 24 minutes and Alex Asamoah topped it with a second after 35 minutes, threatening to live through their promise to unseat league leaders Accra Hearts of Oak.
Liberty were however a transformed side on resumption and Salifu Latif pulled one back for his side after persistently harassing the Kotoko defence. Enterprising Issah Kamal put Liberty at level, and with the Dansoman lads comfortably in the driving seat, it was only a matter of course for the third goal, which came again from Latif.
Kojo Poku fetched the vital equalizer just before referee Cecil Fletcher’s final whistle to give Kotoko supporters some breather after sitting on thorns for the entire second half.
League leaders Accra Hearts of Oak will keep the league’s top spot after being held goalless by Kessben FC at Abrankese. Hearts have 47 points against Kotoko’s 45.
