The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) on Tuesday opened a book of condolence for renowned broadcaster, Godwin Avenorgbo at the Ghana International Press Centre.
The book of condolence will remain open for 10 days, from 8am to 5pm each day.
The event coincided with the courtesy call on GJA Executives by the family members of the late broadcaster.
The Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, was the second person to sign, after the GJA President, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour.
“The Grandmaster, you brought so much joy and enlightenment to media practise in Ghana…. You touched many lives and encouraged all of us to do the right things.
“You left a mark that cannot be erased in a lifetime. Thank you for your service to our beloved country,” the Minister wrote.
For his part, the GJA President said ‘The Grandmaster’ lived a life worthy of celebration and “We are yet to come to terms with your demise”.
“Your legacy will continue to live with us,” he added.
Ambassador Kabral Blay-Amihere, a former President of the GJA, who served with Godwin Avenorgbo in the Edwin Tengey Administration, paid glowing tribute to ‘The Grandmaster’.
“Nobody loved his profession and professional association (GJA) more than Big Godwin, The Grandmaster”.
