The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) will release the list of nominees for this year’s GJA Awards ceremony on Wednesday August 15.
The General Secretary of the GJA, Mr. Bright Blewu disclosed this at a ceremony to receive donations towards the event.
However, he said only the names of the nominees would be given and not the awards or the categories for which they are being awarded.
According to Mr. Blewu, the names of the winners are been kept till Wednesday to increase excitement and interest in the event.
The GJA President, Mr. Ransford Tetteh, speaking at the ceremony, said there has never been a more vibrant media as there is in Ghana today, and Ghanaian journalists deserve commendation and encouragement to offer their best.
The donors included, the Graphic Communications Group, they made a donation of ¢100m. Newmont Ghana Ltd., a mining concern gave ¢26m, while the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Stanbic Bank, Combert Impressions, a printing firm and a traditional Chief from the Shai area each gave ¢20m.
The event comes off on Saturday August 18.
