The Los Angeles City Council member for the 9th District of the United States of America, Curren D. Price, Jr., has called for a collaborative effort aimed at giving back to society and building networks.
Nations all over the world are being faced with one challenge or another, and the plight of the vulnerable cannot be underestimated. As a result of this backdrop, proper networking and the exchange of business opportunities will create the urgency needed to revamp the African economy and make it one of the best economies on the global map.
Speaking on Thursday, December 22, 2022, in Accra during a routine visit to Ghana, Curren D. Price, Jr. revealed the importance of getting to know each other well enough, building networks, and leveraging the digital media’s role in sharing best practices and promoting cohesion, which are ingredients for better and stronger bonds that will, in turn, create a more involving activity aimed at promoting socio-economic development.
"It is critical that we get to know each other better and work diligently to solve some of the problems that the African continent faces."
"Together we can help assuage the sufferings of the very vulnerable in our society," he indicated.
Responsibility
According to him, it is morally right and responsible to give back to humanity to ensure that the welfare of the less privileged in society is catered for. This, he mentioned, will go a long way to cushion individuals who are living in abject poverty and bring some level of hope to them.
"We have all the responsibility to give back to humanity as a way of ensuring that the very welfare of the needy, afflicted, and orphans are catered for. By so doing, we will build a society of love, peace and stability will automatically follow," he mentioned.
Exploring opportunities
On exploring opportunities, Curren D. Price, Jr. mentioned that business opportunities abound. At the same time, they could be used to change the affairs of the nation, stressing their importance towards job creation and making it possible for crime to be brought to the barest minimum.
"Exploring opportunities in business activities in Accra is a step in the right direction. This has the potential to ensure that a large number of young people actively involve themselves in business endeavours that give them an income.
"Agriculture, technology, and macro, small, and medium businesses will be supported, establishing connections and relationships for today’s youth and the generation yet unborn as a way of empowering the youth to be independent," he noted.
Admonition
Curren D. Price, Jr. used the occasion to indicate to the Ghanaian youth the need to be enterprising considering the various opportunities they can choose from.
He emphasised that when young people avoid irrelevant time-consuming activities and work hard, it will create an enabling environment to achieve their goals and careers, and they will undoubtedly contribute positively to the growth and development of their country.
