A Labour consultant has suggested that employers workout a schedule that will give their staff the chance to watch the World Cup matches.
Austin Gamey says employers should formalize such an arrangement so that their businesses do not suffer from loss in productivity because staff may not be fully committed to their roles on match days.
Mr. Gamey is proposing a half-day off on match days.
He also shares some ideas as to how employers can recover after the World Cup period.
“The hybrid approach where targets will be set for people for the half-day period or so where they would have to work and achieve the same target that they would have achieved by working extra hard.
“People who are inter-dependent will ensure that they work together and finish whatever assignment they have before they take off.
“Otherwise when they remain there, the fact is that they will not simply do the work. Their attention will be divided; they will like to watch the game and therefore you will be losing on two fronts. They will be using your utilities and facilities and not doing the job,” he explained
