A member of the Council of State, Mrs. Gifty Afienyi-Dadzie, says she is ready to partner any presidential candidate as the running mate for the December elections.
The former president of the Ghana Journalists Association told Joy news that she has been approached by members of the Convention Peoples’ Party and the New Patriotic Party respectively for the job.
She however denied being contacted officially by the presidential candidates themselves.
Mrs. Afienyi-Dadzie said she has prepared herself adequately for the position of a vice president; but said it would be possible for her to maneuver her way through “if it is the will of God”
She described herself as a “woman of destiny” who does not follow the crowd without God, her “chief lobbyist” instructing her to do so.
“I think that God has prepared me enough and, if the timing is now, I will confidently go, because He will give me the wisdom and empower me. He has given me the favour, the integrity and the courage to stand up for the truth,” she claimed:
She said people are approaching her from almost all the political parties because they “think that I have paid my dues, and that candidate should be able to look at me and my track record and pick me on board.”
Mrs. Afienyi-Dadzie says she is a national icon worthy of notice.
“I think that I represent the face of Ghana that is why people have given me names like Adwoa Ghana”
She said she has always stood for Ghana, which should be the bottom line for the selection of a running mate, because “if you put me there it is like the totality of Ghana there”.
The Council of State member said women are holding key positions all over the country and are ready for any position such as the vice president and eventually as the president.
