Nine more persons have succumbed to the coronavirus in the country's fight against the pandemic.
This was revealed by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in its latest update.
As of August 3, the total number of deaths recorded since the emergence of the virus is 863.
The active cases being reported nationwide is still on the rise. Currently, the active cases stand at 6,840.
Out of this figure, 87 cases are severe while 36 patients are in critical condition.
Meanwhile, 494 new cases have been recorded.
This brings the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases to 107,244. Despite the surge in cases, about 99,541 individuals have recovered, hence have been discharged.
Meanwhile, government has procured over 177,600 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine from the African Vaccine Acquisition Trust (AVAT) initiative in its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The vaccines arrived on August 7 and were received by Deputy Health Minister, Tina Mensah.
Despite the new development, the Ghana Health Service is urging members of the general public to strictly adhere to the Covid-19 safety protocols as government works to attain herd immunity.
