Panellists at the third edition of the Graphic Showbiz forum have dismissed widely held perceptions that Ghana's film industry is dead.
They expressed optimism about its growth and noted that they were still very capable of making progress if intentional steps were taken.
They asserted that filmmakers were making progress with the meagre resources at their disposal and could even break barriers with the right support from the relevant stakeholders.
They also shed light on the potential of the film industry and were of the firm belief that concerted efforts were needed to create a platform that would enable filmmakers to receive help for growing their businesses and growing demands.
Making a case for the industry, movie producer Ivan Quashigah explained that the industry was revolving even though he admitted that it had come a long way and made greater strides.
He however, noted that it was a gradual process and the industry will ultimately get there.
"I will say the industry is still growing. We are not dead like people say. With the right initiatives and support our industry will eventually get there."
Sharing similar thoughts, the PRO for GAFTA, George Bosompim believed that the industry had developed over the years and that players were working hard to satisfy the growing needs.
He also called for massive support from Ghanaians and the need to support and appreciate homegrown content for further growth.
The CEO of OldFilm Production, Peter Sedufia said the right government initiatives will reduce the cost of production and provide a flexible environment for filmmakers to expand their productions.
