Mr Agyarko Kyeremanteng, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has observed that although Ghana has great potentials for becoming an industrialized nation, the pillage and mismanagement of her resources by some past governments prevented her from attaining that status.
He therefore urged the electorate to retain the NPP in power if the populace wants a prudent management of the economy, especially the revenue from oil receipts, which are projected to earn the nation some 15 billion US dollars by 2015.
Addressing the Koforidua Polytechnic chapter of the Tertiary Education Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the NPP during a handing over ceremony in Koforidua over the weekend, Mr Kyeremanteng pleaded with Ghanaians not the let the golden opportunity of ushering Ghana into the comity of prosperous nation “elude us” by retaining NPP in power.
He said under the stewardship of the NPP, a very sound tendering of the economy had been devised, adding that retaining NPP in power would mean that Ghanaians would be experiencing an improved standard of living in the foreseeable future.
The failed presidential aspirant said if on the other hand, a mistake was made by the electorate in voting into power a different party, that dream would fizzle-out leaving the average Ghanaian in a nightmarish situation as happened in the recent past.
Mr. Kyeremanteng said there were many nations in the world who were not endowed with natural resources as compared to Ghana but had emerged as prosperous nation due to the prudent use of the few resources at their disposal.
Mr Abubakar Alhassan, out-going President of Koforidua Polytechnic TESCON, promised the support of student activists in making known NPP’s vision to the people.
The programme, which was presided by the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate for New Juaben South Constituency, Miss Bernice Boateng, saw the swearing-in of Mr Simon Ackah as President and Mr. Osafo Osei as vice.
