Mr. Richard Okoe, Project Officer of Nkoranza-Kwabre Rural Bank, has advised Ghanaians to consume more honey in order to improve their health.
Mr. Okoe, chairman of Nkoranza-Techiman bee keepers association, was speaking at the inauguration of a 120-member association at Nkoranza.
He noted that honey contained nutrients that promoted the growth and development of the body and advised parents to encourage their children to consume honey to enhance their physical and mental performance.
Mr. Joseph Addae, Field Officer of the National Board of Small Scale Industries at the Techiman, who briefed the farmers on the importance of permaculture, stressed the need for the promotion of organic farming, saying the use of fertilizers, weedicides and pesticides could adversely affect fertile land and human health.
Mr. Addae urged farmers to revisit the traditional methods of farming through the application of organic manure.
He called on them to attach greater importance to farming to improve their livelihood.
Mr Osei Mansuo, Nkoranza district cooperative officer, advised farmers to form cooperative groups and cultivate the culture of savings to enable them to access credit facilities to expand their ventures.
