Ghanaians asked to support gov’t build nation

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Awutu-Effutu-Senya, Mr. Solomon Abbam-Quaye, has appealed to Ghanaians to support the government in its effort at building the nation. He said the situation where people of the other political divide did not appreciate anything good about the ruling government and continue to paint it black was not the best. Mr. Abbam-Quaye said this when opening a two-day Business Management Training workshop, organised by the Centre for Rural Enterprise Development (CRED) for parents whose children were withdrawn from Child Labour Activities (CLA) on the area. About 70 parents from Senya Beraku, Akosua Village, Yepemso, Sankor, Asanful, Woarabeba and Bewadze, all in the district, attended. The DCE urged parents to invest in their children's education for them to become useful citizens and who would cater for them during their old age. He appealed to the people in the area to report anyone found giving out his child for labour to the local Child Labour Prevention Committees that have been formed in every community in the area. The participants were taken through topics including Child Labour issues, Business Identifications and opportunities, Basic Financial Management and the National Health Insurance Scheme. Mr. Kojo Impraim, Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District CRED Programme Officer urged parents to closely monitor the activities of their children to detect their involvement in any social vice. Mr. Anthony Nkrumah, Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Representative of the International Labour Organisation, an NGO, said the workshop would help improve the living standards of the participants and also guide them to train their children.
