Brig.-Gen. Carl Modey, Deputy Commandant, Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, has been appointed the new Deputy Force Commander for the United Nations Mission in Liberia.
A statement signed in Accra on Monday by Lt.-Col. M. Atintande for the Director of Public Relations said his appointment followed the approval of Mr Ban Ki-Moon, UN Secretary General. He would replace Maj.-Gen Tahir Mohammed of Pakistan.
Brig.-Gen. Modey was commissioned into the Ghana Army Engineer Regiment on July 21, 1973 and has since attended local and overseas courses, held important appointments including Military Assistant to the Chief of Defence Staff and Assistant Commandant of the Armed Forces Command and College Staff.
