To the best of my knowledge as a concern citizen of Ghana “politics” is a noble vocation aimed at raising leadership for human development and like the good shepherd, a leader must be ready to make sacrifices to his followers and also to solve problems but not to complain or explain problems. In the same way our politicians who have been given the mandate by the electorates to lead mother Ghana must be ready to solve our problems and not to explain those problems to the good people of mother Ghana.
I find it very difficult to understand why Ghana blessed with a lot of natural resources such as Cocoa, Gold, Manganese, Bauxite, Diamond, Timber, Oil and fertile land, and yet we are still poor to the highest level that we can’t depend on our own apron. Our politicians will agree with me that God will not descend from heaven down to Ghana to manage these natural resources He has blessed us with for the benefit of the good people of Ghana. It is important our politicians manage our natural resources properly. Upon all the above mentioned natural resources Ghana is blessed with, 95 percent of Ghanaians are swimming in the pool of poverty to extent that majority of Ghanaians can not afford a square meal a day all because Ghana’s economy is on a sick bed.
REFUSING TO GROW
What magic did countries such as Malaysia, China, South Korea, North Korea, Indonesia, Japan and so many others performed that in terms of development our beloved country is no where near them? These countries do not possess half of the natural resources God has blessed mother Ghana with to grow as a nation and we are still crawling on the ground refusing to grow. I can boldly say Ghana’s refusal to grow as an independent nation is due to this cankerworm called “black mentality” by our politicians. The white man’s mentality is always full of positive thinking, but that of the black man is the opposite. If not for anything why would President Barrack Obama choose Hillary Clinton as his secretary general of state? If it were to be a Ghanaian politician he would rather say over my dead body or “toofiakwa” include someone who challenged me “when my party was looking for a presidential and parliamentary candidate in the up coming 7th December elections”. If our politicians do not change their black mentality way of thinking Ghana will continue to live in poverty and we will continue to borrow until thy kingdom come.
Our politicians must remember someday they will give account not only the way they live their lives but how they managed the natural resources that they hold in trust for Ghanaians. Our politicians must remember not everybody in Ghana can lead our beloved country and as such the few politicians who are fortunate to have gotten the opportunity to lead us must be ready to serve mother Ghana in truth and sincerity and must have compassion for the electorates who sacrificed their lives and wasted their precious time to vote for them to win power. They should let the truth be their warrant.
EGOISM AND PROPAGANDA POLITICS
The issue of egoism and propaganda is a draw back to the growth and development of Ghana’s politics and as such our politicians must let humility be their banner. I mean they should see themselves as been nothing before God and man and that they should reflect their minds on the good example Jesus Christ set in the Bible by washing the feet of his followers and emulate it so that the era of egoistic politics will cease fire and Ghana will have politics free of egoism, insults, crucifixion and painting other peoples’ image black all in the name of propaganda politics to win an election in Ghana.
Some politicians because of their selfish gains have deliberately make propaganda taken a centre stage in our politics and it has eaten deep into the fabrics of the Ghanaian politics as a cankerworm which is making politics look like a dirty game meant for only smart people who think they are wiser than 95 percent of Ghanaians.
It is sad to see some politicians using propaganda to bring what is not there to come into existence that is making a bird turns a cow. This is an incredible situation we find ourselves in and I don’t think our propagandists have taken their time to look into a dictionary to check the meaning of propaganda.
How can a politician say the only contribution he or she can offer mother Ghana is creating ideas or statements that may be false or exaggerated in order to gain political support for a political leader or party. Very soon our propagandists will have no lies to tell Ghanaians because Ghanaians are more discerning to the extent that we are going to vote on issues of realities on the ground and not propaganda. Propaganda politics must pave way for politics of facts and figures. This kind of attitude is unacceptable because it teaches the younger generations on how to tell lies, and Ghanaians must rise up and shun this propaganda politics because it will lead us into a deep ditch. Oh! What a pity. To which destination are these propagandists taking Ghana politics to?
POLITICAL TALK
It is very sad some politicians who have acquired top ministerial appointments came out openly to throw dust into the eyes of Ghanaians during the 2008 elections that former president John Agyekum Kuffour and some members of his administration have enslaved us and siphon our gold bars and monies to foreign countries, but when they were asked to prove it when they appeared before the vetting committee in parliament, these same politicians to the surprise of the viewing public came out to tell Ghanaians it was just a political talk. Oh! What a pity! To which destination is Ghanaian politics heading to?
EXAGGERATION AND LIES
For God sake our politicians must let truth outweighs lies in issues they bring out because tarnishing somebody’s reputation to satisfy your selfish gains is evil and one of the things the ten commandments spoke about was not to give false witness or gossip against your neighbour. The scripture says in part in Proverbs 12 verse13 – 15 that: An evil man is trapped by his sinful talk, but a righteous man escapes trouble. From the fruit of his lips a man is filled with good things as surely as the work of his hands reward him.
If Ghanaians had crucified former president John Agyekum Kufuor and his men, today their innocent blood will be on our heads and we would be living in the fool’s paradise by now. Our politicians who are found of using exaggeration and lies as their tactics to acquire top positions must put a stop to this crude and barbaric behaviour because a time is coming their own lies will haunt them when they are vying for parliamentary seat in the upcoming 7th December general elections. Nobody will believe and take them serious even when they are telling the truth.
The scripture clearly says in proverbs 21 verse 10 “The wicked man craves evil; his neighbour gets no mercy from him”. Proverbs 26 verses 27-28 also says “If a man digs a pit, he will fall into it, if a man rolls a stone, it will roll back on him and a lying tongue hates those he hurts, and a flattering mouth works ruin”. The scripture says “a Truthful lip endures forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment. The Lord detests lying lips, but delights in men who are truthful.”
RUNNING AWAY FROM THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES
Our politicians are mischievously running away from their responsibilities. When they mount political platforms their speeches differs from when they are in power. Politicians talk about infrastructural development, youth empowerment, healthcare and education and yet when they are given the mandate they forget all the sugarcoated promises made to the electorates and rather amass wealth for themselves and their relations.
They apparently refuse to effect a positive change in the life of the common man who can’t afford a square meal. The scripture says in 2 Corinthians 8 verses 8-9 “I am not commanding you, but I want to test the sincerity of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich”.
No politician has ever stood on campaign platforms to say, for instance, when you give me the mandate I will make you continue to live in poverty rather we hear the same old story “for the betterment of the good people of Ghana”. Look how sweet their promises are and yet they soon forget that majority of Ghanaians are swimming in the pool of poverty. When our politicians are looking for power they talk like they are angels who are going to build heaven for the common man because we have heard several times “heaven” is a place full of enjoyment and riches. Oh! My God why can’t our politicians who are also shepherds emulate the good example Jesus Christ set?
After 1992 when we had democracy we knew it was going to help a lot and what are we seeing?
Our politicians if you look at the way and manner they go about doing politics in this country nothing shows they are ready to utilize the democracy we always boast of which was meant to transform Ghana from underdeveloped to a developed nation for the betterment of the good people of Ghana.
