A team of Structural Engineers from the Ghana Institute of Engineering (GhIE) last week paid a working visit to the construction site of the 100-bed Infectious Disease Isolation and Treatment Facility at the Ga East Municipal Hospital.
The project, which was recently commissioned by President Nana Akufo-Addo, is part of efforts by the government to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
The development is part of an Emergency Spatial Framework put together by the Built Environment Committee for Inter-sectoral Collaboration as a holistic response to support the Covid-19 National Taskforce.
The GhIE, together with its colleague Architects, Planners and Surveyors, has constituted task teams offering technical assistance on the ongoing project.
Members of the team included Ing. Robert Owoo, Ing. Asamoah Twum, Ing Nii Armah Tagoe and Ing. Richard.
They were met on arrival by the Site engineer Ing. Clement Amole who took them round to inspect ongoing construction work.
The team also interacted with the lead architect and other building services professionals working on the project which is being funded by a private sector fund.
The project is expected to be completed in six weeks.
