Ghana’s construction market is busy.

There’s a huge demand for affordable housing and commercial properties.

This boom in the construction sector has contributed to economic growth and private sector businesses want a piece of the pie.

Bruce Edem Akakpo is Project Manager at Construction Dynamics Ltd located in Accra. He is one of dozens of business executives attending CalBank’s Trade Summit in Turkey.

The Business-to-Business (B2B) engagement organized by CalBank for the past three years, provides Ghanaian businesses with the opportunity to expand internationally, explore new markets, form partnerships, and unlock global business opportunities.

“Turkey is known for production of building and construction materials. I am hoping tour warehouses and form new partnerships and perhaps procure materials at relatively better prices,” Akakpo told JoyBusiness’ Daryl Kwawu.

Construction Dynamics Ltd is currently undertaking water supply projects across the country. Akakpo, a first-time participant is hopeful CalBank’s Trade Summit in Turkey will enable him make the right contacts to help in his company’s construction projects.

“It is interesting this year the bulk of our clients attending the B2B engagement in Turkey are from the construction sector. Turkey is the go-to place for building materials and interior décor," Daniel Appiah, Head of Commercial Banking at CalBank Plc said.

“It is our aim at CalBank to grow the businesses of our clients and help them build partnerships. Even in the thick of the economic downturn, businesses still feel the need to embark on this trip because of the exposure it gives them. Feedback has been fantastic over the years”, he added.

Patrick Nana Dankwah Anin, CEO of Patco Logistics Ltd is another first-time participant and has high expectations. His company clears goods from the ports. Anin hopes to increase his client base - not only clear goods - but become an importer himself.

The delegation will head to Dubai for another B2B engagement as part of this year’s Trade Summit.

Building on the success of previous B2B engagements, which have enabled numerous businesses to secure international contracts and partnerships, this year’s event promises an even greater impact.

Through this initiative, CalBank reaffirms its commitment to empowering Ghanaian businesses to expand beyond the country’s borders and access global markets.
