It has now emerged that a Ghanaian being held by law enforcement agencies in The Gambia is facing charges of fraud.
According to the President of the Ghanaian community in The Gambia, Mr. Owusu Kogyan, Francis Antwi is being held on extortion charges and will soon be put before court.
Francis Antwi was arrested by The Gambia's National Intelligence Agency two weeks ago for allegedly duping 150 ladies whom he promised to train to become flight attendants.
Earlier reports suggested that Francis was being held for trying to set up a TV station in the Gambia without permission.
A US-based news website, Senegambia News which put out the story, said the Ghanaian was a coordinator of UK-based Atlantic TV and was arranging to open an affiliate station in Banjul when he was arrested.
