The Ghana Football Association has confirmed that the national team players have been paid chunk of their outstanding World Cup bonuses four months after the finals ended in South Africa.
Ghanasoccernet.com sources say players that were part of the World Cup team received a cheque for US$ 55,000 each during Tuesday’s friendly against Saudi Arabia in Dubai.
The Government has promised the remaining US$ 8,000 owed each player will be paid in the coming days.
This ends the saga of unpaid bonuses which dominated the news early this month after the Bank of Ghana asked the players to submit their foreign accounts before payments can be made.
Ghana’s quarter-final World Cup team were owed a total of US$ 2 million which includes 1.4 million as appearance fee for the Uruguay match and the Presidential reward package of US$ 600,000.
